Spontaneous Intracranial Hypotension associated with Posterior Reversible Encephalopathy Syndrome

نویسندگان

چکیده

Spontaneous Intracranial Hypotension (SIH) is usually due to cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) leak, resulting in loss of CSF volume. Posterior reversible encephalopathy syndrome (PRES) the inability posterior circulation brain autoregulate response significant variation blood pressure. Altered perfusion with associated blood-brain barrier disruption may lead vasogenic edema, without infarction, commonly parieto-occipital regions. Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) & Spine and cerebral MR venography (MRV) are essential tools for diagnosing clinically suspected SIH PRES. We present a case PRES an 18-year-young gentleman.

BACKGROUND Posterior Reversible Encephalopathy Syndrome (PRES) is a clinico-radiological entity characterized by headache, encephalopathy, visual disturbances, and seizures in association with reversible vasogenic edema on neuroimaging. Intracerebral hemorrhage associated with PRES (PRES-ICH) is generally considered an atypical finding. METHODS Retrospective case series. RESULTS Seven patie...

Dengue-Associated Posterior Reversible Encephalopathy Syndrome, Vietnam

Dengue can cause neurologic complications in addition to the more common manifestations of plasma leakage and coagulopathy. Posterior reversible encephalopathy syndrome has rarely been described in dengue, although the pathophysiology of endothelial dysfunction likely underlies both. We describe a case of dengue-associated posterior reversible encephalopathy syndrome and discuss diagnosis and m...

Posterior reversible encephalopathy syndrome.

Posterior reversible encephalopathy syndrome (PRES) is characterized by headache, altered mental status, visual disturbances, and seizures. Radiological features typically include edema of the posterior cerebral regions, especially of the parietooccipital lobes. Atypical imaging features, such as involvement of anterior cerebral regions, deep white matter, and the brain stem are also frequently...
